Caring for Azaleas
Azaleas are generally sun hardy but in warmer climates require a semi-sheltered position. they like an acidic soil (pH5-6). Build up the depth of the topsoil rather than digging down into clay soils. Tight root balls should be teased out a little. Add good compost. Slow deep watering at the roots is best. Keep soil moist until established. Apply a complete fertilizer at spring after flowering. Prune lightly after flowering.
